B/W or color Doppler?

B/W systems may suffice for basic pregnancy and abdominal exams. Color Doppler (and Triplex) is needed for blood-flow assessment, cardiology and advanced diagnosis.

Probe types and frequency

Micro-convex and linear probes serve small animals; rectal probes suit large-animal reproduction. Higher frequency improves resolution of superficial structures, lower frequency provides deeper penetration.

Portability and battery

For field and barn use, light systems with an internal battery stand out. Image-enhancement technologies such as THI and SRA keep imaging clear even in tough conditions.
